Jiuzhaigou Valley


In 1992, Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area was inscribed on the list of World Heritage by UNESCO.

Situated in the northern part of Sichuan Province, Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area covers over 72,000 ha with the height of more than 4,800 m. The Area is comprised diversified forest ecosystems. Its superb landscapes are particularly interesting for their series of narrow conic karst land forms and spectacular waterfalls. Some 140 bird species also inhabit the valley, as well as a number of endangered plant and animal species, including the giant panda and the Sichuan takin.

The Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area is a reserve of exceptional natural beauty with spectacular jagged alpine mountains soaring above coniferous forest around a fairyland landscape of crystal clear, strange-coloured blue, green and purplish pools, lakes, waterfalls, limestone terraces, caves and other beautiful features.

Some nomadic Tibetans have been living here for generation by generation, the valley is a wonderful place to explore the Tibetan culture.

Travel to China, travelers can fly from Chengdu. Xian, Chongqing to Jiuzhaigou. It is possible to drive from Chengdu or Lanzhou to here, but much longer time.
