Dazu Rock Carvings


In 1998, Dazu Rock Carvings was inscribed on the list of world heritage by UNESCO.

Dazu is a county under the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality in the central China with the well-known Dazu Rock Carvings which are a series of Chinese religious sculptures and carvings. The earliest history can be traced back to the 7th century AD, then it became the mixed culture gradually for Buddhist, Confucian and Taoist beliefs. The carvings depicted beside the cliff in rock-cut cave shrines or on the open rock faces.

The carvings in Dazu are situated on the North Mountain, Baodingshan Mountain and South Mountian etc. The must-see section is on the Bodingshan Mountain while travel to China.
