Solitary Beauty Peak


Duxiu Feng, 独秀峰 in Chinese, is situated on the site of the former palace of the Prince of Jingjiang in Guilin, a member of the imperial house in the Ming Dynasty, this peak thrusts up regally from the city center and is also referred to as "Pillar of the Southern Sky."Its other name is Zijin Shan(Golden Purple Hill) as it appears like a purple robe ornamented with a golden sash under the morning sun and in the sunset glow. On its slope are Yangong Dushu Yan (Cave Where the Scholar Yan Read Classics), Taiping Yan(Peace Cave) which is also called Liuhai Dong (Cave of the Immortal Liuhai), Yueya Chi (Crescent Moon Pool) as well as many stone carvings from various dynasties.
