Though majority Chinese people are atheism,China still has different religions to be worshipped. As a vast country, the religions include Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Christianity etc.

A Short History of Chinese Philosophy written by Dr. Feng Youlan has stated clearly that Chinese people has their own philosophy but not deep religion. However, as the only religion originated from China, Taoism is very popular in Southern China, it is still part of the Chinese tradition. Moreover, there are nearly 9% of the entire 1.3 billion population are minorities, including Mongolians, Tibetans, Hui, Uyghurs etc, who have their own religions as well.

Most of Chinese are not religious currently as they were educated in the school that no gods in the world since they were young. However, Chinese like to pray in the temples or churches when they visit there, though they are not religious. Perhaps they are looking for the comfort while praying.

The history of religion in China can be tracked back to stone age, they worshipped heaven, mountain god, water god etc. That is Shamanism which is still quite popular in the remote area.
