Shaanxi History Museum


Shaanxi History Museum, one of the four biggest museums in China, houses various relics excavated in Shaanxi Province. Shaanxi had been the ancient capital in China for a long time, so that there are numerous relics and ruins in the province, and the museum is the best place to learn the impressive civilization.

Located in Xiaozhai, near The Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the museum was built with typical Tang Dynasty architectural style, covering an area of 65,000 sqm. There are about 38,000 relics in the museum from pre-history to Qing Dynasty for different periods in the history. There are 3 main exhibition halls to display chronically, and other halls for different themes. Particularly Xian was the start of the silk road so that there are plenty of the different stories and relics telling the splendid history in this wonderful museum.

Shaanxi History Museum is free of charge for the main entrance, but not for the special exhibitions. It opens from Tuesday to Sunday.
