China Expedition 12D: Shanghai, Three Gorges, Chongqing, Yangshuo, Guangzhou

Welcome to Shanghai, the most metropolis of China! Upon arrival, you'll be met by our representative and escorted to your hotel. The rest of today is at your leisure.

City explore in Shanghai today with a local guide, you will visit the Bund that is riverfront of the Huangpu River, Yu Garden that is an old pretty garden, Xintiandi that is former French Colony, and Jade Buddha Temple etc. 

Today you will fly to Yichang, where you will board the Chinese 5-star Yangtze Cruise in the evening, and start the 5-day cruise tour on the Yangtze River.

Morning visit to the Three Gorges Dam at Sandouping, the largest in the world. Later sail through the Three Gorges Dam ship locks. Sail through Xiling Gorge, the longest (41 miles), and the deepest of the Three Gorges.

Transfer to another vessel for a relaxing excursion through the attractive gorges of Goddess Stream. Depending on river conditions, an alternate excursion may be substituted to the gorges of Shennong Stream or Small Three Gorges. 

Enter Wu Gorge, known for its quiet beauty, forest-covered mountains, and cliffs so sheer that the sun barely penetrates the precipices. 

Then sail through Qutang Gorge, the shortest (5 miles), narrowest (500 feet), and most dramatic gorge. 

Additional optional Shore Excursion to White Emperor City (river conditions permitting), an ancient city overlooking the western end of Qutang Gorge. 

Today continue sailing on the Yangtze River, and you will take a shore excursion to Shibaozhai or Fengdu's“Ghost City" or Yuhuang Shengdi (Jade Emperor Sanctuary) or others.

Cruise arrives in the morning in Chongqing. Then, you will expore Chongqing including Liziba Light Train Station where the train runs through the high buildings, and Hong Ya Dong which is fabulous for the varied layers of the buildings, and Ciqikou Old Town.

After hotel breakfast, you will take 5-hour bullet train from Chongqing to Yangshuo. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to hotel, then enjoy your free time in Yangshuo.

Today you can ride a bike to the stunning Yulong River, or hike around if you do not want to ride bike. 

Then you will take a boat on the pretty Li River to view the picturesque karst mountains and the rice paddies. 

Free morning. Then you will take the bullet train back to Guangzhou where you can go shopping.

Today you will visit the flower Guangzhou, which is the capital of Guangdong Province with a population 18 million. You will visit Museum of the Tomb of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Period to learn history about 2200 years ago, then enjoy the beautiful Academy of Clan Chen before moving to Shamian Island, and visit the Canton Tower, this afternoon. Take a night cruise is a highlight of the day tour to view the lights beside the Pearl River. Lunch is yummy dim sum.   

Today is departure day. You will be transferred to Guangzhou airport where the tour concludes.
